Etc_caraibe is a playwrights association whose mission involves discovering, training and highlighting dramatic authors from Caracas to Cuba.
Over the past ten years, the association has engaged in the translation and publication of works as well as the organization of play readings at the regional (Venezuela, Guadeloupe, Martinique…) and international level (Paris, Quebec, Brussels, New York…). Each year, Etc_caraibe organises a playwriting competition aimed at all authors from the Caribbean and the Caribbean diaspora.
Headed by Danielle Vendé, it today has a membership of some 200 authors writing in French, Spanish, English as well as Dutch.
This playwrights association is recognised by the French Ministry of Culture and the local government bodies of Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana and is supported by the SCAD (French Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers), Culturesfrance and the UNESCO International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC).
