Un festival de poésie en Afrique du Sud avec des poètes caribéens invités .... 16 Oct to 15 November
Urban Voices International Poetry Festival features icons of international poetry: Don Mattera- South Africa, Patrick Rosal- USA, Mutabaruka and Jean Binta Breeze from Jamaica. Also featured are several emerging and established poets from across the country. All the overseas poets will perform in all three cities and Don Mattera will perform in Cape Town and Joburg.

International Theatre Exchange with Cultural Odyssey : The Medea Project : Theatre for Incarcerated Women. SA/USA
For the first time in South Africa, Urban Voices produces a full length workshopped theatre production with female inmates of Jo’burg Correctional Services (popularly known as “Sun City prison” ) , directed by award winning USA artist, Rhodessa Jones and assisted by Idris Ackamoor and Sean Reynolds.
Venue and date: 15 November at 2pm : Joburg Correctional Services , Meredale
Entrance Free: ID must be produced and rsvp by 12 November 2008. Subject to change.
International Theatre Workshop and Talk on Prison Project :Free : All welcome
Featuring Rhodessa Jones , Idris Ackamoor and Sean Reynolds on their work with incarcerated women in SA and the USA. They will also discuss contemporary issues facing the prison system in the USA
Rhodessa Jones will also perform excerpts from “Big Butt Girls, Hard Headed Women”.
